It occurs to everyone that their brake pads stop working properly, and it happens even in the most costly and dependable automobiles, but not everyone understands how to replace them properly. We've included instructions on how to do it below!
- - So, where do you begin? Let's start with the most important guideline. It has to do with the fact that you can't just replace the pads; you have to replace the entire set (and you also cannot change the front and rear separately, only together).
- - How do you know when it's time to replace your pads? Every 30 thousand kilometers, the pads must be replaced. (And at least once a year.)
- - And last but not least, the instructions for replacing the brake pads themselves.
Before we get started with the instructions, I'd like to point out that if you're not confident you can change the brake pads yourself, you should contact a reputable vehicle service.
When changing gaskets or cleaning parts, avoid breathing dust since brake pads contain hazardous chemicals. Before you begin working on the brakes, make sure you clean them with water and wear gloves to avoid extended skin contact.
- 1. Loosen the wheel nuts, jack up the automobile, and keep it stationary as soon as possible. The wheels must then be removed by unscrewing the mounting nuts.
- 2. Remove the caliper mounting bolts by unscrewing them and pulling them up. (Make sure the brake hoses aren't damaged!)
- 3. Remove the springs and brake pads.
- 4. The thickness of each brake pad must be measured using a specific scale.
- 5. Replace the front brake pad as a set if the thickness of the brake pads is less than the operational limit.
- 6. Clean the caliper well, remove any dust, and inspect for damage.
- 7. Examine the brake disc for fractures or corrosion. (If they are, it is not recommended that they be placed.)
- 8. Reinstall the brake pad springs.
- 9. Install the brake pads.
- 10. It is necessary to press the brake cylinder so that there is sufficient distance in the caliper for installing the pads. (Be careful not to damage the brake cylinder when reinstalling the caliper).
- 11. Now return the caliper to the working position by bolting it (tighten the bolts well).
- 12. Check the brakes numerous times before the road test to ensure they are operating correctly (you may notice a big brake pedal travel right after changing a pair of brake pads). The brake pedal will move normally after a few pushes of the brake pedal.)
- 13. After installation, check that there are no leaks in the brake hoses.
